Montseny,
Pueblos del Montseny
A wild and spectacular hiking route following the historic water pipe through forests, streams, beech woods and magical landscapes of Montseny.
The route starts at Joan Ragué Square in Gualba, at the foot of the Montseny mountains. From there we climb towards the Environmental Park to enter one of the most legendary and demanding trails in the area.
The path follows the historic “pipe trail”, an old water conduit transporting water from Santa Fe down to Gualba.
Along the route we cross holm oak forests, chestnut groves, beech woods and humid areas full of lush vegetation.
A narrow and humid trail winding alongside the historic water pipe. The views over Gualba and Montseny are spectacular.
Near the trail appear ancient crosses linked to legends of witches and magical gatherings in Montseny.
An old stone hydroelectric station, restored and surrounded by wild nature. One of the iconic spots of the route.
The trail becomes more demanding, crossing streams and dense forests of beech and chestnut trees.
The final reward: the impressive reservoir surrounded by the immense Santa Fe beech forest.
The descent passes pools, ancient forest paths and historic corners of Montseny.
